A magnificent museum - here you can not only enjoy the work of Van Gogh and look at his painting, but really learn a lot from his biography, understand why he painted in this style in each of the periods of his life and, in general, better understand his work. I advise you to take an audio guide, which discusses the main of his works (if you are not an art historian, you probably will not understand without an audio guide why some paintings are considered brilliant).
The museum itself is very popular - you can't get into it without an appointment, at least during the season, so it's best to plan this trip to the museum in advance. You can follow the museum map.

Almost brought to tears, such an incredible homage to Vincent Van Gogh and I love how it encapsulated the relevance of his words and artwork in the 21st century. I particularly loved learning of his close friendship with his brother and his doctor. DEFINITELY book in advance and don’t underestimate how long the trip will take. We were there for 2+ hours and sadly didn’t get to see the temporary exhibition as it was closing time. Thankfully we did enjoy all of the permanent exhibition and I think the ticket price is reasonable considering how big the exhibition is and the story told. Looks like they had a fun painting scavenger hunt on for the kids which was a great idea, there are ample WC facilities and the lockers were free to use too.

Very thoughtfully organized museum - if you want to learn more about the life and works of Van Gogh, this is a great spot. I was impressed with the updated commentary and reflections. Definitely recommend the audio guide!!

There should be a 10 star button for this place. I spent 5 hours there and would have stayed longer. The audio guide was great, specially recommend it to solo travelers. Van Gogh's life and work is truly inspiring and the way that is all displayed in the museum you feel as though you'd be time travelling and you feel as if you could actually see and appreciate the themes he painted. The interactive screens on the second floor are great too, I do think you must go with spare time and take as long as you need to take everything in. Very emotional and reflective activity which in my case was perfect for the rainy day I went on. Not only the museum is fantastic and the work is perfectly organized, the fact that you can find paintings belonging to different artists that link to his life and story is also excellent. And the souvenir shop? Dont get me started about the souvenir shop. Its the best one I've seen in my whole life, definitely worth spending your money there, the variety of products is astonishing and you have different items for all budgets. Just loved all of it and can't wait to go back.

Fantastic gallery that is really well laid out and easy to explore. The displays are beautiful and I highly recommend the audio tour to provide additional commentary on key pieces of art. Two hours was the ideal amount of time to explore the permanent collection, however, the temporary exhibition is also huge so we didn't have the time to take all of this in. I'd recommend allowing half a day if you want to see everything.

A must see in Amsterdam. The museum displays Van Gogh’s work in an engaging way. His story is revealed in a fascinating way that respects his family, friends, and legacy. Every worker was very nice.
I did a report for school on Vincent Van Gogh when I was about 9 or 10 years old; I never thought I’d see his actual paintings. It was very moving.

A dream come true to visit this beautiful museum and see most of Van Gogh’s masterpieces. The audio guide worked wonderfully - definitely worth getting if you plan on visiting. The layout of the museum was great - never felt a space was too crowded or cramped.
